they told me what i shouldn’t do
i listened good, i listened true
it’s not my fault, it isn’t fair
it should be me up over there
instead i lay here on my back
as all around me fades to black
a red light flashes just in sight
a mangled mass off to the right
a man leans down with coat of white
“he’ll never make it throught the night”

I lie here now with eyes of glass
And watch events that come to pass
Far to my right a red light flickers
As on my left an small group bickers
They say it was an awful mess
Of what they speak I cannot guess
Above my head a twisted mass
Of burning metal in the grass
I overheard the medics state
We can’t save this one, it’s too late
It took a while for me to see
The one of which they spoke was me
This mess was no one’s fault at all
Another truth of alcohol
To pay his folly, I not he
Will soon just a statistic be
As darkness comes and takes me whole
Of all my thoughts I lose control
A woman comes and takes my hand
As I slip from this unfair land
She glances up and her eyes rise
As one man lives and one man dies

i don’t really know why i stated writing about alcohol and death. neither of my parents drink. i guess it’s just a deep subject, and that’s what i like to write about. i wrote this one down on paper a long time ago but lost it. it was the inspiration for “drink” which i am leaving forever unfinished. i just found the paper today. i hope you enjoy seeing my perspective on life through my writings. salute.
